GLOBAL CITY LEADERS

Welcome to our newly relaunched website with evidence and resources from our Global City Leaders study funded by the Economic and Social Research Council in the UK.

In 2011, we embarked on a 4 year journey to explore how Generation X (under 40 year old) school leaders in London, New York City and Toronto were experiencing and shaping their careers, leadership, lives and futures. We have worked with Advisory Groups of policy and practice leaders across each city and over 130 GenX leaders have joined our project. It was an incredible journey that uncovered interesting and surprising things about this new generation of leaders.

We continue to work with new cities, including the Global City Region of Santiago/Valparaiso in Chile, to learn more about how this new generation of leaders will influence our education systems. In turn, we also work with policy, practice and school leaders to develop strategies to ensure that GenX leaders are recruited, developed and retained in our education systems.
